New Technology sends Blu-ray Movies direct to your iPhone

The new technology, BD Touch by NetBlender is now going to show you Blu-ray movies direct on your iPhone ready to play using Wifi connection. This technology will let you use your iPhone as like another new fancy remote for your player. This application can gather the data from Blu-ray player, which can create an iTunes like catalog of movies into the iPhone. The new Technology, BD Touch, can offer you title recommendations, you can also use your iPhone as a game controller by turning existing Blu-ray discs into games, easily manage and update rental queue, it can display extra information about the movie in sync with the movies playback, etc. Overall, it seems to having limitless possibilities.

The video for demo showed on site is quite funny because they showed transfer, which took only seconds, most of us know how much time it takes converting a regular DVD for use on an iPhone, but still imagine if it is real then it is amazing.

Now I guess the next thing they must make a universal remote for full home automation, which can controlled by iPhone.

Solution for dead Car Battery - Porta Jump

It happens sometime that you left your car's headlights on for a long time and when found out you are completely helpless. Then the solution might be to get a pair of jumper cables and try to get it connected to someone else's car. Porta Jump measures 3” x 3” x 2-1/2”, which is much smaller than any such device I’ve ever seen, just plug it into a cigarette adapter or some power port and wait until you get green light turn on. The new Philips Pronto TSU 9600 is a universal remote, which can control almost anything from a central location like your home theater system, music libraries, cable TV; it can even do your lighting if you have an automation system installed. It works on WiFi technology and has a 3.7-inch touch-screen (640 x 480 pixels). It is said to be powerful enough to work through walls. Well that is good because you do not have to install separate WiFi routers to work with it. A few people are suspicious about it that it may have side effects living in such a close proximity from a device like this. All of its functions are easily configurable by a PC, which enhances rich user experience.

Pronto is a must own for anyone who ever considered (or actually purchased) theater-style seating for a home screening room, or for anyone who wants to get spoiled by sitting at a place and controlling everything.

Laser Harp in Robotics contest.

Today I just found out this interesting thing, it is a Frameless Laser Harp, sounds interesting right. Anyways hers is some information relating about it. This Laser Harp happens to be at second place in Trossen Robotics Community's contest in a hot field that included a Seeing Eye robot, which can help the visually impaired people and a self-balancing motor board, which is similar to the iSlide, the most popular among the readers in recent Gizmag article.

Grand prize for the contest taken by Phoenix, a robot having six legs. The most interesting thing about this robot is its way of motion, which is some of the most convincing and eerily lifelike that we have seen in a robot that uses standard hobby servos and a common off-the-shelf servo controller. The kinematics for the robot are computed by a programmed spreadsheet. Oh, many numbers in there, good for trigonometry fans.

Now the question is, How a Laser Harp got eligible for a robotic contest. Well it is, because the Laser Harp does not actually make the sounds, it triggers the notes, which are produced on a MIDI.

Motherboard fan powered by waste chip heat

In Taiwan, Motherboard manufacturing company MSI is working on an interesting technology with new powerless cooling fans in their labs, which harvest the heat from processor with a small Stirling Engine. It all falls under the ECO friendly project, which we hope to see in near future. Since power saving green gadgets is hotly discussed topic, MSI has employed the Stirling Engine Theory to power a cooling fan without the need of electricity.

Heat is transferred from the motherboard northbridge chipset and according to the Stirling Engine Theory it is able to spin the cooling fan and that cools down the heatsink. MSI said that they would put world’s first powerless air cooler to an Nvidia motherboard.

Clothes become power house

A nanotech research team reveals its latest invention, which can make your clothes into a powerhouse. By the help of some nanowires embedded in your clothes, your outfit can generate enough power to light up your mp3 player or your cell phone or any other gadget, by just walking or dancing around.
Professor Zhong Lin Wang and team of the Georgia Institute of Technology coated Kevlar strands with zinc oxide nanowires, protecting the bushy wires with a polymer and adding gold to other fibers to act as a conductor. The piezoelectric power-generating action comes when the nanowires bend as two fibers rub together, translating bending of the material into electricity, which flows along the gold fibers.
Professor Wang says "across several square feet of fabric the nanowire fibers can generate power adding up to tens of Milliwatts, which is not a huge amount, but is certainly enough for a dribble top-up charge for your portable devices". Well the idea sounds perfect for medical and military use, but it is clearly an invention in its infancy as Wang notes, "What we've done is demonstrate the principle and the fundamental mechanism." The only flaw until now is that the nanowires are not wash proof and washing the clothes is not possible without damaging them.

Cellphones do well most of the calculation needs today, but there are still many people who prefers to work on a calculator whether scientific or just normal. There is a calculator, which is powered by water; actually, it uses water or any other electrolytic solvent for power. The solvent or liquid creates a chemical reaction in the fuel cell with zinc anode and cathode produces electrical current that can power this water calculator for a month. I hope to see this kind of some cool innovations in laptops and cell phones as well and who knows they might be working on it right now.

Get a customized Cell Phone (including features)

This week two companies announced two different versions of customizable cell phone. Now, it is clear that its the starting of a new era, where you can custom your cell phone like we did to laptops and PC's.

Modu, a cell phone manufacturing company from Israel, announced a GSM handset that will be released this October. It will be a tiny phone which can be slide into a jacket, and jackets will be having extra functionality. For example, a user might use a jacket with a nice camera in it for personal use, and then replace that with a jacket to use a QWERTY keyboard for business use. You will also get software, which give instructions to phone about color schemes in addition to other features.

Another company is zzzPhone, which has announced build to order phones, and they claims that buying its phone will be like ordering a PC from Dell. Just use their website, and select the features you want to have and the company will build it. It's base model costs $149, and will provide a wide range of colors and features like 7 mega-pixel camera, TV tuner or DMB, or GPS, etc. all additional features will be charged extra.

Nokia and Microsoft talks for loading Windows Mobiles in Cell phones

Nokia, always supposedly loyal to the Symbian platform for it phones, is now talking with software giant Microsoft to put Windows Mobile platform on their handsets as said by John Starkweather one of the Microsoft's marketing director.
Nokia already using Microsoft’s ActiveSync and PlayReady. Microsoft is working “closely” with Nokia and wants to “go all the way.” It is still too early to determine whether you are going to be able to buy a Nokia phone with Windows Mobile on it, but Nokia will still be selling phones with Symbian platform on it. Therefore, no need to worries Symbian lovers.

Scan checks at home to make deposit

Milwaukee Online banking service provider CheckFree Corp. is coming out with technology that could help consumers to deposit their checks from home. It is called as Remote Deposit Capture, the technology will allow letting people scan their checks through their computer's scanner and deposit them electronically, the technology has been around for several year, until now, it was mainly used for the business purpose. CheckFree said the service is available starting this week for any consumers who bank online, as long as their banks offer it.

Measure electricity by a clip

If you are like me, and your electricity bills also reaching skies, then here is some gadget, which we call as "Saverclip". It is a concept from the designer Lee Young Don that may prove useful to anyone who is looking to control there electricity or power consumption. This device look very similar to a clothespin and it actually latches onto any kind of power cable to determine the energy usage by just measuring the electromagnetic fields emitted. It can even recharge itself by the same electromagnetic field.

There is a LCD panel, which can help us to determine that what the devices are responsible for the most power wastage. The design is quite simple and looks friendly, which could be a useful gadget, if it may ever come to the reality.

USB 3.0 is about to come

Intel and other companies are forming a group to promote USB 3.0, this will be even 10 times faster than 2.0, which is already running at 480Mbps, but soon the USB 3.0 will be able to transfer the data at speed up to 4.8 Gbit/s. It will remain be compatible with USB 2.0, which was always compatible with 1.1 version.
Intel stated that the USB 3.0 would be optimized for low power and improved protocol efficiency. The USB 3.0 ports and cabling will be designed with both copper and optical cable capabilities, which means even more higher speed is ensured in future.
The USB 3.0 specification should be out soon with the products arriving in 2009 - 2010.

iriver's handwriting friendly e-book or tablet

Well iriver did not show this at the CES, but it is definitely a cool product. It looks like a combination of e-book and tablet PC with the capability to recognizing handwriting, and have a quite good color display. Well it seems really an interesting thing, because from the top it does not look like an e-book or a tablet, more like a normal notebook. Nowadays, iriver seems more like developing prototype or concept gadgets, and we never get to hear much about its last terminal e-book. Therefore, there is not enough information about this gadget but hope to hear about this more in the future.

Nokia 4G test successful

Nokia announced the 4G test "long term evolution"(LTE) wireless technology was a success, it was one of its kind. This test was carried in urban environment using the spectrum of 2.65GH z, the peak download speed at this spectrum recorded 173Mbps; this was the best result then all earlier tests. LTE can provide the combination of bandwidth, range, scalability, and low power that users will expect from a 4G service.

The prototype base station was installed for ongoing LTE tests at the top of the Heinrich Hertz Institute building in Berlin, in urban where interference typically degrades bandwidth. Test featured multiple users connected to the new base station, giving the 173Mbps throughput was the real world peak. They also tested the LTE by putting terminals into cars and driving them 1 km away from the base station.

“We can demonstrate that LTE meets the high expectations set for this new technology,” said Nokia’s Matthias Reiss in a prepared statement. “Most importantly, we now have evidence that future LTE networks can run on existing base station sites and mobile operators can build LTE networks without requiring new antenna sites.”

Mobiblu Nanum

The new Mobiblu Nanum the mp3 player, is made by Mobiblu (Korea) a new popular name around with its new mp3 player. Its a cool looking cube, actually its a folding one opens up in a cross shape. Although without having a screen, but still looks pretty great. It has 1 GB of storing capacity, USB 2.0, Lego-esque pop-out buttons, dimensions of just 1.1 inches a side, supported audio formats - mp3, wma, and wav.

It seems like a concept one, but its already there in Korea, prices are expected to be around $70.
Right now, i can't say anything else about this one, you have to see it yourself. Just wait for a while until it gets around in local stores.

When meeting a client for first time all we need is a business card, but if you want to impress your client give him this electronic business card, call it as M++Cards. Its a memory card so you can store some information on it. You can store entire portfolio, PDF's, etc. It can be used as Business card, website card, product info card, etc. Means it will be a lot easier for you to deliver all the needed information to a client, but the only problem is that right now its only a concept. But hey its still sounds practical to have an electronic card. I hope to see this cool thing in near future.

Voicemail to text messages by SpinVox

People who found themselves busy a lot, and there cell phone keeps on showing miscalls and voice-mails, then you better try this service by SpinVox. It claims to convert your voicemails into text messages. Remember its a usual thing that somebody leaves a voicemail and give some information to note down (like some number or some other important things) and you don't have a pen and paper to note it down, and when you find some then have to listen to voice mail again.
SpinVox is charging you $15 a month for the service, there is one more thing that you'll get to see the callers number included in text message, so calling back will be quite easier.
Personally i don't like to have voicemails for important numbers or issues, but getting same information in text will be great for all. Now just see how accurate will they going to provide us this service, cause Callwave does this for free but you hardly get to see accuracy in there service.
